On November 28, 2005, the OCTA Board committed to seek full funding in the amount of $225 million for the Bristol Street Widening Project between Warner and 17th Street. The funding plan calls for OCTA to program $125 million in Gas Tax Subvention funds in FY 06-07 and through FY 11-12 with the adoption of the 2006 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The funding plan also calls for OCTA to seek the remaining $100 million from other sources, including, but not limited to, federal appropriations, state grants or local funds to complete the Bristol Street widening per the Specific Plan. The OCTA Board approved a cooperative agreement with the City on June 12, 2006.
Bristol from McFadden to Pine
Right-of-way acquisition and design plans have been completed and finalized for this segment. Total expenditures to date are $42 Million. Utility undergrounding by Southern California Edison has also been completed. The City will be advertising for construction bids in March 2009.
Bristol from Civic Center to 3rd
This is the second phase of the OCTA funded project. Right-of-way acquisition has begun with approval of the Relocation Plan by the City Council. There are 21 commercial and 11 residential acquisitions in this phase. We have started with preliminary design of the project and are currently investigating the utility relocation assessment. The acquisition/relocation process is estimated to be completed by December 2009.
Bristol from Pine to 3rd
This segment is funded partially by Federal funds and Measure M. On July 7, 2008, City Council awarded a contract to Sequel Contractors, Inc. for the widening of Bristol between Pine Street and 3rd Street. Construction for this segment began in mid August 2008 and will be completed by April 2009.
