The Housing Element is one of the “required” elements of the City’s General Plan, and is a tool to address existing and future housing needs in Santa Ana. Following the public outreach, that included community workshops, stakeholder focus groups, and Visioning Study Sessions, the City prepared the preliminary 2006-2014 Draft Housing Element in September 2009.
The City is pleased to announce that a formal letter was received from State of California Housing and Community Development (HCD) Division, affirming that Santa Ana’s 2006-2014 Draft Housing Element (September 2009) is in compliance with State housing law requirements. In addition to the City’s web site, the revised Draft Element is also available for viewing at the Santa Ana Main Library or Public Planning Counter.
Per California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), an Initial Study/Negative Declaration has been completed including response to public comments.
The following meetings and public hearings were held for the community to participate in shaping Santa Ana’s housing policies and programs. The Santa Ana City Council formally adopting the 2006-2014 General Plan Housing Element update on October 19, 2009.
